You will first need to gather the following items: a tape measure, a pen or pencil, and a writing pad.

Remove any items inside or in front of the fireplace that may potentially hinder you from accurately measuring. Then use the tape measure to measure the front width of your fireplace. Then get the measurement from the back width, followed by height and depth.
